I designed this as a single-level cabin for a wooded mountain site, focusing on using the space efficiently without sacrificing comfort for a family of four. I kept it to one floor to simplify construction and avoid needing additional space for a stairwell. The design is intentionally contemporary rather than rustic, with an open living and kitchen area at the center of the home. I placed the two bedrooms at the opposite end of the cabin, separated from the living space by the laundry and utility areas. Bathrooms and closets help create additional separation and privacy between the two sleeping spaces.

A wraparound porch extends along the north side of the cabin, with large sliding glass doors and picture windows that blur the boundary between indoors and out. At the west end, I added a screened porch with a fireplace to create a comfortable three-season living space and a place to enjoy the surrounding woods.
